About the foundation

TNS Foundation is a Non-Profit Organization, meant to reach out to students from underprivileged backgrounds, who have been given a chance at higher learning institutions. The foundation is meant to act as a top-up bursary, where extra funding and support is offered on top of a primary financial aid, mainly NSFAS.

The aim is to ensure that students are offered more support in terms of finances, as well as social and emotional support needed to complete their studies.

Studies have shown that there is 50-60% drop-out rate in university in first year in South Africa.

Vision

  • To build a support system that the youth of South Africa can use to make their dreams come true.
  • To build a community of young leaders who can stand for themselves and fight poverty.

Some reasons…

  • Inadequate academic support
  • Financial problems
  • Social life at university
  • The pressure of being a first generation student
  • Youth unemployment rate in South Africa
  • Services offered so far (courses)
